Google Play screenshot sizes
Google Play is more flexible than the App Store: screenshots can be any size between 320 and 3840 pixels per side, as long as the long side is at most twice the short side. These are the common sizes that fit every phone and tablet listing, plus the feature graphic every listing needs.

Google Play takes up to 8 screenshots per device type (at least 2 in all), as JPEG or 24-bit PNG without transparency. Google updates its rules too, so check the Play Console before you publish.
File format and limits
- PNG or JPEG, in the RGB color space.
- No transparency. Flatten your images; a PNG with an alpha channel is rejected on upload.
- Exact pixel sizes. App Store Connect checks the dimensions, so a screenshot that's a pixel off won't upload.
- 1 to 10 screenshots and up to 3 app previews per display size and per localization.
- One orientation per set reads best; mixing portrait and landscape makes the carousel jump.
Tips for screenshots that convert
Lead with the first three
Search results show only the first few screenshots, so put your strongest benefit first. Many people never swipe.
Keep captions short
Aim for three to six words in large type. Captions are read at thumbnail size, so test them small.
Mind the safe area
Keep text and key UI away from the edges and the rounded corners, where the App Store's mask and scaling can clip them.
Plan for translation
German and French captions often run a third longer than English, and Arabic and Hebrew read right to left. Leave room, and check every language.
Clean up the status bar
A tidy 9:41 status bar with full signal and battery looks deliberate. Stray notifications and low battery don't.
Check light and dark
The App Store shows your screenshots on both a white and a black page. Make sure your background works on each.
